Deputy President, David Mabuza has assured traditional leaders that government is committed to forging strong ties with them. Mabuza who is also the chairperson of an inter-ministerial task team established by President Cyril Ramaphosa, was joined by Limpopo Premier, Stan Mathabatha in addressing the traditional leaders in the province.

Some of the challenges raised by the traditional leaders include access to land and lack of mineral beneficiation to the mining communities amongst others. This is a follow-up meeting from a previous engagement held in January this year. Mabuza says challenges facing traditional leaders are being addressed as they play an important role towards development.

“We will work closely with premiers to ensure that government is able to provide essential support to enable traditional leaders to execute their leadership responsibility without any undue hindrances. Our view is that traditional leadership have a key role to play in development and service delivery interventions that are aimed at changing the lives of traditional communities for the better,” says Mabuza.
