ANC Chairperson in the Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane says public spats have a negative impact on the unity of the party.

African National Congress (ANC) Chairperson in the Eastern Cape, Oscar Mabuyane has condemned the behaviour displayed by some National Executive Committee (NEC) members who are lashing out at party leaders publicly.

Mabuyane says it is disappointing to see senior people crying foul in public.

Mabuyane was opening the first day of the provincial ANC Lekgotla at the East London ICC.

He put emphasis on the renewal of the ANC and common purpose among party members.

He says public spats have a negative impact on the unity of the party.

“We should ensure that we don’t repeat the mistakes of our dark past. Let us ensure that 2018 is indeed the year of our renewal, unity and jobs.”

“Obviously, what we have been observing in the past few days starting from the Maritzburg youth rally going to another program in Vryheid on Saturday – they are not really doing us good. Actually, they are a disservice to what we are trying to put together – and it is always not good when it is done at the highest level the NEC.”
