Ndumiso Mabena scored in injury time to steal a 2-1 Absa Premiership victory for Bloemfontein Celtic against Polokwane City at the old Peter Mokaba stadium on Wednesday night.

Mabena’s goal was redemption after his penalty was saved by George Chigova in the 78th minute.

Jabulani Maluleke had put City in the lead with a stunning goal in the 24th minute, but that was cancelled by Kabelo Dlamini’s free kick ten minutes later leaving the game tied at 1-1 at the break.

Celtic interim coach Lehlohonolo Seema says he had planned for such a tough game.

The result pushed Siwelele to ninth position on the log with 34 points from 26 matches.

The victory also means they have ended their five match winless streak.

The coach was happy with his player’s attitude especially after Given Mashikinya was sent off six minutes after the hour mark.

Meanwhile City remain in sixth potion on the table with 41 points from 27 matches. Coach Jozef Vukusic Was disappointed saying his side should have used their opportunities and those produced by the game like the red card and saved penalty to their advantage.

The loss ended Rise and Shine’s eight match unbeaten record and the coach wants his charges to be graceful in defeat.

Vukusic adds now it is important for him to keep his players calm.
