Local police station commander gunned down north of Durban

KwaZulu-Natal police have confirmed the killing of a local station commander.

It is believed that Colonel Jabulani Ndawonde from the Ndwedwe police station, north of Durban, was gunned down at the Bhamshela Taxi Rank on his way home on Monday night.

Police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele says it is also believed that Ndawonde was driving a state owned vehicle when he was overtaken by another vehicle and shot at.

He died at the scene.
