South African fans of the Irish pop vocal group, Westlife, are holding thumbs that the Kings of Pop will soon perform on local shores again, following the release of their first new single in eight years.

Universal Music South Africa says the song, written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac, is called “Hello My Love”.

The single has been described as a soaring solid gold pop anthem that features the foursome’s trademark stunning vocals and harmonies.

The outfit, formed in Dublin in 1998, has become household names in South Africa following three sold-out tours before they split up in 2012.

Westlife holds the Guinness World record for the first to achieve seven consecutive number one singles in the United Kingdom, and the top selling album group in the UK in the 21st century.
