President Cyril Ramaphosa is addressing the nation. It is expected that the President will outline government’s strategy with regards to the coronavirus pandemic.

The President’s address follows a number of meetings of the Cabinet, the National Coronavirus Command Council and the President’s Coordinating Council.

The National Coronavirus Command Council met earlier this week to consider the Gauteng government’s request to reimpose stricter lockdown regulations.


South Africa’s coronavirus (COVID-19) recovery rate remains below 50% at 48.4% with 127 715 recoveries recorded. There’s only been a 1.2 percentage point improvement from Friday.

The country has recorded 13 497 new infections on Saturday, bringing the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases to 264 184 and deaths to 3971.
