The Portfolio Committee on Public Enterprises and the Select Committee on Public Enterprises and Communications holds a virtual joint meeting.
Minister of Public Enterprises, Pravin Gordhan, was briefing the Committee on the latest developments at state-owned companies.
The briefing comes a week after the National Transport Movement union announced that a decision was reached with the department to shut down the South African Airways (SAA) and form a new airline. The SAA has been struggling financially.
Government in April rejected the airline’s request for a R10 billion bailout. In January, the airline received R3.5 billion from the Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA).
