Members of Parliament have bid farewell to Dr Frene Ginwala, the first Speaker of the democratic Parliament, in a joint sitting of the National Assembly and National Council of Provinces on Monday in Cape Town.

MPs across party lines thanked her for her contribution to the country and lauded her for her fairness, and objectivity, saying she was not swayed by party lines, and instead gave a voice to all political parties.

Ginwala passed away at her home in Cape Town, on the 12th of January.
