ANC Women’s League President Bathabile Dlamini has called on government not to allow the COVID-19 pandemic to overshadow the plight of women in the country.
She was speaking during the League’s Virtual National Day of Prayer and Candle Lighting Service on Sunday morning.
Recently, there has been a spike in gender-based-violence with women and young girls being killed prompting a national outcry.
On Saturday, a Soweto woman was raped and killed in front of her children.
Dlamini says in as much as the coronavirus needs serious government attention, this shouldn’t be done at the expense of women.
