More than 160 people were shot dead and more than 100 others wounded when the police of the South African Union opened fire on members of the Church of God and Saints of Christ on 24 May 1921.

The massacre of Bulhoek in Ntabelanga near Komani, formerly known as Queenstown, in the Eastern Cape is commemorated on Monday.

Exactly 100 years ago, more than 160 people were shot dead and more than 100 wounded when the police of the then South African union opened fire on members of the Church of God and Saints of Christ, lead by Enoch Mgijima.
