Three variants are currently circulating in SA.

South Africa has seen a sharp increase in infections fanned by the Delta variant, which was first identified in India.

The variant is now dominating new infections as the country battles a third wave of infections.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has warned South Africa to be vigilant as the variant is said to spread easier and is able to evade immunity.

In the video below, we highlight the three variants which have spread within the country and are found in a number of other countries.
