The SACP’s Lindiwe Shongwe is the new mayor of Metsimaholo Municipality in Sasolburg in the Free State.
This follows fiercely contested by-elections on November 29.
Five political parties the SACP, ANC, AIC, Metsimaholo Community Associtation and Forum For Service Delivery have formed a coalition.
The DA, EFF and Freedom Front Plus are oppositions.
“Councillor Lindiwe Shongwe from the SACP contested for the position with Sellwane from the EFF. The Council meeting went very well. The Chief Whip of Metsimaholo Municipality is councillor Victor Nyembe and the speaker is Thabo Mabasa from the African National Congress,” says Metsimaholo Municipality spokesperson Gino Albert.
