Fourteen countries from the Southern African Development Community (SADEC) region will participate.

The Limpopo provincial government, together with the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa) and South African Football Association, will officially launch the upcoming 2018 Cosafa cup in Polokwane.

The Cosafa cup will be launched on Thursday.

The 18th edition of the football competition is expected to kick off on Sunday.

Fourteen countries from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region will participate.

This is the first time the province hosts the football tournament.

The much anticipated Cosafa tournament kicks off with two back to back matches all taking place at Polokwane’s old Peter Mokaba stadium.

The fixtures will see Madagascar and Mozambique go head to head during the first round of the group stage. That encounter will be followed by a clash between the island nations of Comoros and the Seychelles on the same day.

Representatives from football bodies Safa as well as Cosafa will oversee the launch, joined by Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha.

The Cosafa cup is an international football competition consisting of national teams.
