Residents say they have reported the matter to the Ba-Phalaborwa municipality, but their pleas have not been heeded.

“The sewage spillages is overflowing into the houses and those who resides next to the villages don’t even use flushing toilets the municipality of Ba-Phalaborwa is abusing them. My business is affected a lot because of the smell customers don’t want to come back here anymore.”

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Ba-Phalaborwa municipality, Jonas Mahesu says they were not aware of the sewage spillages.

“I consulted the technical department, they told me that they were not aware but they told me they will attend to it. We are appealing to community members that once they experience this kind of things, let them tell the ward councillors so that they can inform the officials of the municipality to take care of it.”
