Reading Time: 2 minutes

Limpopo MEC for Economic Development, Environment and Tourism (LEDET) Thabo Mokone says they are looking to raise at least R1m at the Limpopo Premier Bursary Fund Golf Day.

Potential donors including business people and politicians Teed-off at Euphoria Gold Estate in Modimolle on Thursday to raise funds.

The event is in its 17th year and Mokone says they are going to take 10 learners to tertiary through the fund in 2019.

Mokone was asked about the criteria, which they use to pick the students and he said it left to the discretion of Premier Stanley Mathabatha.

Mokone adds that his department is on a high drive on sports tourism.

Following the international golf tournament and cycling events, Mokone says the Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) is going to work to promote the three Limpopo Premier Soccer League clubs.

Baroka FC, Black Leopards and Polokwane City are preparing for the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season and the MEC says the trio has LEDET’s support.
