Limpopo police bust car hijacking syndicate

Police in Limpopo believe they’ve broken a car hijacking syndicate active in several provinces after arresting three suspects.

The three were arrested when police followed up on a business robbery in Dzanani in the Venda area on Thursday.

The police recovered four vehicles, three of which have been identified – a BMW belonging to the SANDF VIP Section; a Mercedes Benz that was hijacked in Pietermaritzburg in Kwazulu-Natal; and a VW Jetta hijacked in Primrose, Germiston in Gauteng.

Police believe that one of the suspects has sold more than 40 stolen cars in the Ndzhelele and Musina areas of northern Limpopo.

The three arrested suspects have appeared briefly the Dzanani Magistrates’ Court, where their cases were postponed until the 17th of next month for further investigation.
