Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Makhado Local Municipality in Limpopo says it has started with legal processes to obtain a court interdict to evict community members who invaded a piece of land which belongs to the municipality.

Community members are accusing the Makhado Municipality of refusing to develop the land for residential purposes, while they don’t have houses.

Municipal Manager Freddy Tshivhengwa, says they are hoping to obtain a court interdict next week to stop the land invasion.

Tshivhengwa says, “We even went to the police to open a case of land invasion, we engaged with our council and we took a resolution to organise what we called a court interdict. We are currently busy with our lawyers to make sure that we lodged the court interdict.
