Prominent lawyer, Tumi Mokoena, is expected to appear before the Polokwane High Court in Limpopo facing an application for sequestration.

Two liquidators say they have discovered that Mokoena has allegedly been concealing assets of his law firm, Tumi Mokoena Inc.

The company has since been liquidated for defrauding beneficiaries of a citrus estate in Zebediela.

The Legal Practice Council (LPC) has also suspended Mokoena from practicing as a lawyer.

Tumi Mokwena Incorporated was liquidated through a court order in 2019.

In their court papers, the liquidators Adriaan van Rooyen and Shirley say Mokoena allegedly removed assets from his company’s premises to an unknown location.

The liquidators also allege that Mokoena misused his company funds and transferred some of the money to his personal account and account of a family trust.

Mokoena has since filled a note to oppose the case.
