The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in Limpopo has finalised preparations for the coming voter registration weekend. The 8th and 9th of February is the final registration weekend for the 2014 provincial and national elections to be held on a date still to be announced.

Provincial Electoral Officer, Nkaro Mateta says registration materials have been prepared for dispatch to more than voting stations. She says that the electoral staff have been trained.

“All 3066 registration station would be open and all our materials are also ready, our staff have been trained and we are going to deploy in excess of 6 000 registration officials that will be manning all those stations.”

Mateta says even registered voters need to go to their stations to verify their particulars.

Mateta adds that people should visit the stations if they have not registered; those who have changed their address to verify their details on the voter’s roll in order to avoid disappointments on Election Day.
