Residents living in a 26 story building in Doornfontein, Johannesburg, where a woman died after the lift failed, say the lifts had been given problems before the catastrophic failure.
Another person who was also in the lift at the time was left critically injured and is being treated in hospital.
Residents living at 120 End Street in Doornfontein, say they are traumatized after the cable on one of the lifts snapped, leaving one person dead and another critically injured.
They say over the last few years the lifts in the building have always been problematic and that they are out of order on a regular basis.
The exact circumstances surrounding this tragic incident are unclear at this stage but police are investigating.
