Lesotho faces another crisis

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Lesotho is facing another crisis as the opposition Democratic Congress (DC) files a motion of no confidence in the government of Prime Minister Tom Thabane, and demands that Parliament be re-opened.

DC Spokesperson Serialong Qoo says Parliament hasn’t sat for months, and the government is silent about the reason for the extended closure.

Qoo says they have demanded the re-opening for months and they are now resorting to a motion of no confidence as urgent business for the house to be recalled.

DC says it is confident they will win the motion as some disgruntled members of Thabane’s governing coalition will vote for it.
