Black Leopards progressed to the last 16 round of the Nedbank Cup with a 4-0 win over North West University in Thohoyandou on Sunday.

Mogakolodi Ngele opened the scoring early in the seventh minute, Thobani Mncwango completed his brace, scoring in the 59th and 81st minutes respectively while Tumelo Khutlang closed with the fourth in injury time.

The winning coach Alan Clark says the first half was tough for Leopards and is pleased they progressed.

Clark refreshed his side for this encounter giving the likes of Thivhavhudzi Ndou and Xolani Ndlovu starts.

Lidoda Duvha also lost goalkeeper Jonas Mendes to injury in the second half with Rotshidzwa “Bomba” Muleka taking responsibility in goals.

Clark says he had to be smart about the changes and also revealing that Mendes will be out for a couple of weeks.

For the losing coach Karabo Masehela the match was for his boys to enjoy and gain experience of playing big teams.

Masehela adds that his charges gave a good account of themselves but ran out of steam.

Masehela further says preparations for this encounter were affected by student protests at the institution of higher learning.
