Leopards management dealing with Musonda case: Mabedi

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Black Leopards Assistant Coach Patrick Mabedi says the technical team is patient with striker Mwape Musonda after he joined the pre-season camp late last week.

Musonda had reportedly gone AWOL when the side assembled for pre-season to try and force a move out of the club.

The club has maintained the reigning Premier Soccer League (PSL) top goalscorer is still under contract and will only engage formal requests.

Mabedi says the technical team is following the lead of management regarding the player.

Leopards played a few friendlies with local amateur sides at the University of Limpopo this past weekend to test their pre-season work. Mabedi says they saw progress from the work they started two weeks ago.

Lidoda Duvha will spend this week in Mpumalanga to play some stronger opponents with Malawi-born mentor adding that they are also considering visiting neighbouring countries.

Mabedi says the communication between the players and head coach Lionel Soccoia is improving as well.

The former Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach is also pleased with the quality of players Leopards have acquired so far in the off season.

Thuso Phala, Mogakolodi Ngele, Abubakar Mumuni and Thabo Matlaba have all signed for the Vhembe-based side.

Mabedi says Leopards was good offensively, but lacked some organization at the back last season.
