The Ministry of Transport says the Chairperson and board member of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) Leonard Ramatlakane has been fired from his position.

The Department spokesperson, Collen Msibi, says this is the result of an investigation that discovered Ramatlakane used a business property in Cape Town without authorisation.

Msibi says the ministry remains committed to clean governance.

“Mr Leonard Ramatlakane has been relieved of his duties as a Board Member and Chairperson of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa. This follows an investigation by the Entity on the misuse of one of its properties in Cape Town by the Chairperson without due and proper processes being followed. The Ministry is committed to clean administration and governance across its entities.”
