Legendary sports journalist Sbu Mseleku to be laid to rest in Durban

Sbu Mseleku's distinguished journalism career spans an incredible 33 years.

Legendary football writer Sbusiso Mseleku will be buried in Durban on Sunday. He died on Monday at the age of 59.

Family spokesperson Vincent Magwenya confirmed that Mseleku died in Midvaal Private Hospital in Vereeniging from a COVID-19 related illness.

Mseleku was a long-time Sports Editor of the City Press.

He also previously worked for the Sowetan and Drum magazine and delivered sports analysis for SABC Sports and other broadcast channels. A number of members from the sporting fraternity are expected to attend his funeral.

Mseleku was born in eMagabeni, a small township south of Durban in KwaZulu-Natal. Mseleku’s distinguished journalism career spans an incredible 33 years.

He had recently started his online company S’busiso Mseleku Sports, also using the Facebook platform.

Tributes have been pouring in from various colleagues including filmmakers.

Mseleku is survived by his wife and five children.
