Learners urge people to be energy efficient through art

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Learners from George in the Southern Cape performed industrial theatre pieces at the local Arts Theatre this past week, to bring home the message of energy efficiency.

The World of Tomorrow Drama Festival is an initiative by the George Municipality’s Electro-Technical Department, supported by the Department of Minerals and Energy.

Fifty three primary school and 48 high school learners participated, with Blanco Primary and McKinlay Reid International School winning the best overall productions.

The festival is the brain-child of the Planning Manager in the Electro-Technical Department, Steyn van der Merwe.

Fourteen-year-old Joshua Marais from McKinlay Reed International School says he hopes their play inspired the audience to save electricity.
