Close to 800 learners who have had no schooling since February are expected to return to classes Monday morning in Madibogopan village outside Mahikeng in the North West.

This follows the residents closing down the only secondary school in the area, demanding a tarred road.

The provincial government has now intervened.

In a high level meeting between community leaders and MEC’s of four departments, the community resolved to allow learners to return to school.

Community leader, Thabo Makgwana says the issue of a tarred road has not been resolved.  He says the MEC of Roads in North West could not make a commitment, as her department has been put under section 100 of the constitution.
