With just over a week for the Local Government Elections, the race for votes in KwaZulu-Natal intensifies, as parties ramp up election campaigns.

Yesterday, the Democratic Alliance held its closing rally in  Howick.

The party wants to win the Umgeni Municipality at the polls. Meanwhile, ANC Deputy President David Mabuza and the IFP’s Narend Singh are also expected to be on the campaign trail in the province this weekend.

Democracy Development Programme’s Senior Programs Officer Brian Mhlongo says amid the string of politically-related killings in the province, leaders must ensure that they campaign responsibly.
