Law officials to ensure safety on all routes

Reading Time: 2 minutes

North West MEC for Community Safety and Transport Management Dr Mpho Motlhabane says law enforcement units are working together on all routes this Easter weekend to ensure that all operations are streamlined.

Motlhabane has added that road blocks will be conducted on all provincial roads.

“We are all over the province focusing in mayor roads, N18, N14 and N12 but also connecting roads, leading to our borders. We also checking on mayor roads leading to our villages, we will be deploying traffic officials as well but those who take long trips, they must check their vehicles, whether they are road worthy after driving a long distance. They need to ensure that they rest.”

Meanwhile, Traffic flow and the number of people crossing into Zimbabwe is normal at the Musina Beit Bridge border post in Limpopo.

Holiday makers are entering and exiting at the port of entry for Easter Weekend.

Some holiday makers say though the traffic is normal on the N1 road, they are experiencing delays at the port entry.

“It is irritating, it’s not normal just look at the queue here what makes to be so slow. I’m just asking myself what make it to be so slow?, says one holiday maker.

Another says, “I should have passed already now but I’m still on the queue here is slow, I don’t know what is happening upfront there.”

“I have been here long time why are they doing this to us since when I have been here nothing is going on traffic is fine that side everything is fine the challenge is only on this side of the border but all the way is fine but here you see that is the challenge,” adds another holiday maker.
