Late Menzi Ngubane posthumously honoured at SAFTAs with best actor in a telenova

The 15th edition of the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTA) has been taking place in a virtual red carpet event broadcast on SABC 3. In some of the awards ‘Still Breathing’s’, Brandon Auret won best actor in a TV drama with Kate Liquorish winning best actress.

Clint Brink of ‘Binnelanders’  scooped the best actor in a TV soap, while ‘Scandal’s’ Masasa Mbangeni received the best supporting actress award in the same category.

Michelle Botes scooped best-supporting actress in a telenovela for her role in ‘Legacy’ and ‘Isibaya’s’ Menzi Ngubane posthumously won best actor in a telenovela.

Sindi Dlathu won best actress in a telenovela for her role in ‘The River’. ‘Rhythm City’ has won best TV soap. And the best telenovela is ‘Legacy’. ‘Blood and Water’, season one bagged the best TV drama award.

Meanwhile, the late ‘Isibaya’ actor Menzi Ngubane has been honoured posthumously with the award for best actor in a telenovela.

Sindi Dlathu won best actress in a telenovela for her role in ‘The River’. ‘Rhythm City’ won best TV soap. Best telenovela is ‘Legacy’.  ‘Blood and Water’, season one, bagged the best TV drama award. And best TV Comedy is ‘the Riviera’.

SAFTAs was established by industry representatives and the National Film & Video Foundation (NFVF), as an event that honours, celebrates and promotes the creativity, quality and excellence of the South African film and television talent.
