Larsen happy with contract and new players

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Chippa United coach Clinton Larsen says he is happy after he signed a two-year contract with the Chilli Boyz. Chippa Mpengesi, chairman of the Port Elizabeth-based club, offered Larsen a new deal after the former Lamontville Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic mentor guided the Chilli Boyz to safety last season.

Larsen and his boys will go through preseason training in Port Elizabeth on Monday.

Larsen is excited that he is going to have pre-season training with his players after joining the Chilli Boyz in January this year following the sacking of former coach Joel Masutha.

Larsen shares the importance of a pre-season training with his players.

The Chilli Boyz have signed former Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb as well as Gladwin Shitolo, Diamond Thopola, Phetso Maphanga and Caio Marcelo from Orlando Pirates.

Shitolo and Maphanga were on loan at the Chilli Boyz from Pirates last season while Thopola once played for the Port Elizabeth club before he was sold to the Buccaneers two seasons ago.

Meanwhile, Larsen is happy that most of the players, who were regulars when he arrived at the Chilli Boyz, are still going to play for the team even though he lost Zitha Macheke to Bidvest Wits and Tebogo Tlolane to Pirates. – Report by Monwabisi Jimlongo
