Lamoer and police brigadiers Darius van der Ross and Collin Govender were sentenced to six, two and four year’s imprisonment.

Former Western Cape Police Commissioner, Arno Lamoer, two former high ranking police officials and a businessman will apply for leave to appeal against their sentences imposed on Monday.

Lamoer and police brigadiers Darius van der Ross and Collin Govender were sentenced to six, two and four year’s imprisonment respectively by the High Court in Cape Town on Thursday.

All four men were granted bail on Friday to allow them to consult with their lawyers.

NPA spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila says, “All the accused were granted bail of R10 000 rand each. Basically the main reason for all them to consult with legal representatives in order to prepare for the leave to appeal sentence on Monday. It does make sentence in the interest of justice to go with that because at times it gets difficult for consultation to happen while they are imprisoned. We accept the decision of the court.”
