Ladysmith Black Mambazo to launch world music fest

Ladysmith Black Mambazo aims to make the festival an annual staple for music lovers in the country and is a lead up to its 60th anniversary celebrations in the music industry in 2020.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the five time Grammy award winning group, recently announced that it will staging the first annual Inanda Dam World Music Fest, which will commence December, 9 2018 at the Inanda Dam Resort in KwaZulu-Natal.

The world music festival will be headlined by South African music heavyweights such as Lira, Oliver Mtukudzi, Joe Nina, Steve Kekana, The Muffinz and Ladysmith Black Mambazo amongst others.

The group aims to make the festival an annual staple for music lovers in the country and is a lead up to its 60th anniversary celebrations in the music industry in 2020.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo’s longest standing member Albert Mazibuko said, “This event will also be a platform to showcase indigenous music talent discovered through its music development and talent search called The Ladysmith Black Mambazo mobile academy.”

The Ladysmith Black Mambazo mobile academy started in 2018, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo is moving around the country discovering and developing the talent of aspiring artists. Those who are discovered through this process receive mentorship and music skills development in different aspects of the music business.

The festival is family-friendly festival and aimed at attracting people from all walks of life and from all over South Africa and the world.

There will also be mobile music stores at the festival where people will be encouraged to buy music of all the artists billed as well as other CDs, with the purpose of encouraging people to buy original, and not pirated music.

The Inanda Dam World Music Fest will start at 10:00am and end at 8:00pm.
