BLF to support Zuma during court appearance

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Political movement, Black First Land First (BLF), says it will support former President Jacob Zuma when he appears in the Durban High Court next week. Zuma faces charges of corruption and money laundering.

BLF president Andile Mngxitama says they have begun mobilising supporters who will travel across the country to Durban. Mngxitama says Zuma is being targeted unfairly.

“We are calling on our people to come out. We’re calling traditional leaders, our churches. It’s now Easter – we should put President Zuma in our prayers. President Zuma who spent 10 years on Robben Island fighting for this freedom is being persecuted for radical transformation, because white monopoly capital doesn’t want this, they are prosecuting to try and silence all the forces of radical economic transformation.”

BLF also wants former President FW De Klerk to be arrested for alleged crimes that took place during apartheid.

“BLF opened a case of murder and conspiracy to commit murder against FW De Klerk and his Minister of Police Adriaan Vlok last year May. The matter has been transferred to the Sebokeng police station where the Sebokeng massacre happened. We are shocked there is no movement on this case. There is evidence that’s why we’re saying we’re shocked there is no action.”
