Zikalala accompanied by MEC for Economic Development Ravi Pillay was addressing the media after a walkabout on the Durban beachfront.

He says the festive season has also seen a major boost for the local retail sector.

“But we are at least appreciating the growth and the improvement we are seeing in the hospitality industry where the occupancy rate is above 80%. Here in Durban it is above 85%, in KwaDukuza and iLembe it is 80% and in all other areas, it is above 65%. It is a good start. As we were waling here we were so grateful to see people coming from all over South Africa.”
