KZN mother and 5 year-old found in shallow grave

KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating a double murder case after a 30 year-old mother and her five year-old child were found in a shallow grave in Tongaat.

Police Spokesperson Nqobile Gwala says they are now appealing to the community to help identify the bodies.

“At 4:30, at Park Avenue, a community member was on his way to a Tuck Shop when he noticed a blood trial leading to bushes. He immediately contacted the police and when the police arrived at the scene they followed the trail and they found a shallow grave and they recovered two bodies. It was a woman believed to be in his 30s and the child.”

Police say the motive for the killing is still unknown at this stage.

“We are still investigating and we are also appealing to anyone who might have information about the suspect to contact the local police station.”
