A man has been arrested after he allegedly fired shots at people in Warwick Avenue in the Durban CBD.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala says on Wednesday morning two men were playing pool and having drinks when they were attacked by an unknown suspect.

Gwala says the suspect allegedly fired shots at them before being attacked by community members.

He is currently in hospital under police guard receiving medical attention for his injuries.

Police found an unlicensed firearm.

Gwala says the suspect is also wanted in another murder case that took place on January 20 where a 34-year-old man was shot and killed at Julius Nyerere Avenue.

The man will appear in court soon, facing charges of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.
