KZN, Limpopo ANC prepare court papers over uncounted votes

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The African National Congress (ANC) commission responsible for elections will on Wednesday morning outline what is at stake regarding the issue of the more than 60 uncounted votes.

ANC delegates from KwaZulu-Natal and Limpopo have confirmed that they have instructed their lawyers to prepare court papers.

Some ANC members believe that a re-count would affect the outcome of the election for the post of secretary-general. Free State premier Ace Magashule defeated former KwaZulu-Natal secretary-general Senzo Mchunu by a small margin.

Member of the ANC Steering Committee Jeff Radebe says, “I’m part of the Steering Committee, we had a meeting on Tuesday night, where we received a report from the Electoral Commission at the plenary session. On Wednesday morning, the electoral commission which is responsible for this conference is going to be able to give us a report. I think let’s wait for the Electoral Commission, led by Sindiso Mfenyana, which will be outlining the issues at stake.”
