KZN disputes to be tabled before ANC National Working Committee

ANC Secretary General Ace Magashule says the plea for a regional elective conference by KwaZulu-Natal’s Moses Mabhida Region will be taken to the National Working Committee.

Earlier members from the region stormed the ANC’s headquarters in Johannesburg to hand over a memorandum.

This comes just weeks after a new Regional Task Team was appointed by the province.

The region has been marred by factional fights which have seen two of its elective conferences cancelled.

Disgruntled branch members asked their fight to the doorstep of the ruling party.

They stormed the building, and blockaded entrances calling for leadership to grant them their regional conference.

They also want the newly appointed Regional Task Team disbanded.

March convener Sthembiso Nkuna says:”We are not mad we are not sick we know what we want, we want to protect the organisation from the fly by nights who want to grab it by the neck and fulfill their ambitions.”

The region has been plagued by factional fights and political killings. It was among those which successfully interdicted two provincial elective conferences in court.

Its Regional Executive Committee was disbanded earlier this year when its term ended.

The group seemingly aligned to the former chair Mthandeni Dlungwane says it wants to re-elect its old leadership.

The ANC Secretary General says the issue will now be tabled before the party’s National Working Committee.

Magashule says the matter will also be discussed at the special NEC meeting on Friday.
