The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in KwaZulu-Natal says it has placed disaster management teams on high alert in some parts of the province.

This follows strong winds and heavy rainfall in most parts of the province on Tuesday night.

Two people were injured after a tree fell on top of a mini bus they were travelling in, in Westmead, Durban.

The department’s spokesperson Senzelwa Mzila says, “We can report that a number of flooding incidents that have taken place in Durban especially around the area of Reservoir Hills and Pinetown where a number of public roads have been flooded.”

“MEC Sipho Hlomuka urged residents across the province to exercise caution as reports received from the South African Weather Services indicates that the inclement weather conditions are expected to continue,” adds Mzila.
