Patricia Kopane says FreeState and Kwa-Zulu Natal are also in health crisis.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) shadow minister, Patricia Kopane, says that our health care system is on the verge of collapse.

Kopane says the cause of the problem is that the country does not have enough nurses and doctors in the health care sector. She says some of the hospitals lack equipment.

Speaking on Morning Live, Kopane says other provinces experiencing a health crisis include Kwa-Zulu Natal and Free State.

This is after National Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi admitted this week that the country’s health care system is in distress, due to the burden of diseases.

He also agreed that the system is overloaded, partly due to patients from the neighbouring states using the country’s hospitals.
