Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Sport and Recreation has described the views of Springbok Captain Siya Kolisi about the quota system in sport as “unfortunate.”
During an interview with a Japanese Kydo News broadcasting channel Kolisi said “he does not want to be picked because of the colour of his skin, and that former President Nelson Mandela would not support a quota system in South African sport.”
Chairperson of the Committee, Beauty Dlulane says quotas in South African sport are a necessary tool for transformation to be realised. Dlulane says the quota system is imperative, especially in sporting codes such as the rugby national team and cricket at national level.
She also cautioned against sport personalities for making comments on racial issues in sport.

Siya Kolisi is no different to the blacks who are made CEOs of corporate companies, they think they are the best blacks in the land, and think other blacks are lazy, that's why they don't transform these companies
