Springbok captain Siya Kolisi is continuing to make international headlines and has been named as global ambassador for the United Nations Spotlight Initiative.

Kolisi captained South Africa’s Rugby World Cup winning squad. He will help the UN’s global fight against women abuse and violence. UN secretary general Antonio Guterres announced Kolisi’s appointment during the Nelson Mandela Lecture, which was part of the Mandela Day celebrations.

“I am pleased to announce that South Africa’s Siya Kolisi is our new global champion for the United Nations Spotlight Initiative, engaging other men in fighting the global scourge of violence against women and girls.”
