The Koeberg Nuclear Power Station has revealed its water resilience Strategy as the Western Cape battles an on-going drought.

The water thirsty power supplier has over the last eight months built and is now operating a temporary ground water desalination plant whereby the processed water will be used for its operations.

Since being operational, the nuclear power plant has reduced its water usage from the city’s water supply by 35% which equals 115 million litres water over the last eight months.

The Nuclear Power Station permanent Ground Water Desalination Plant is expected to be up and running at the beginning of next year.
