KwaZulu-Natal secretary for the Congress of Traditional Leaders (Contralesa) Inkosi Nhlakanipho Maphumulo says the ongoing killings of traditional leaders in the province will top the agenda at the upcoming provincial elective conference.

The two-day conference starts in Ulundi on Thursday. Maphumulo says they want leadership that will prioritise issues affecting traditional leadership.

“This conference is important to us. It’s been two years waiting for this conference to take place so that we elect new leaders. We have given an ultimatum to Contralesa national leadership to organize this conference before the end of this month for us to elect new leaders that will take us forward and assist with new ideas to resolve issues pertaining to traditional leadership. Most importantly, this conference is aimed at electing new leadership in the province,” says Inkosi Maphumulo.
