Khoisan Defiance Campaign says Etzebeth must still face the Equality Court

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Leader of the Khoisan Defiance Campaign Sammy Classen says although SA Rugby has cleared Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth of any wrongdoing, he still has to go to the Equality Court.

Etzebeth was cleared following an internal investigation into an incident in Langebaan last year.

He was accused of physical and racial abuse outside a pub in the Western Cape Town, just before the 2019 Rugby World Cup.

SA Rugby has issued a brief statement saying that an independent investigation was conducted and that the case is now closed, as indicated in the tweet below:

Etzebeth admitted to being there, but denied that he was guilty of any abuse.

The South African Human Rights Commission however has still not completed its investigation into the matter.

Classen says reports that SA Rugby has cleared Etzbeth should not mislead the public into thinking that he has no case to answer.

The video below outlines charges that were laid against Etzebeth late last year:
