Kenyan doctors end three-month strike

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Doctors in Kenyan public hospitals have ended their three-month strike following their signing of a return to work agreement with the government.

The agreement addresses issues of pay, working conditions as well as allowances.

The doctors went on strike in December demanding between a 150-180% pay increase.

An unknown number of people have died waiting for doctors to resume work as a result of not affording treatment at private hospitals.

Last month, doctors and medical practitioners in several private healthcare facilities in the country Kenya began a 48-hour strike.

This was in protest to the jailing of seven medical union officials for refusing to call off the strike in the public health sector.
