Katsande couldn’t finish the game against Orlando Pirates last weekend where they won 1-0 after sustaining a knee injury.

Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a big blow with confirmation that their vice-captain and midfield enforcer Willard Katsande will be out of action until next month.

This was confirmed by Chiefs head coach Ernst Middendorp just before their training session at the club’s base in Naturena.

Katsande couldn’t finish the game against Orlando Pirates last weekend where they won 1-0 after sustaining a knee injury.

In the audio below, Middendorp reveals that on form attacker Lebogang Manyama and Colombian striker Leonardo Castro are back in training.

With Katsande out of action, Middendorp says he’s not out of options, he feels that Kenyan international midfielder Anthony Akumu is now ready to step in especially after playing about 20 minutes last weekend.

Other options that Middendorp is looking at for Katsande include the likes of Philani Zulu, George Maluleka playing deep at No.6, he goes as far as mentioning Daniel Cardoso.

Ahead of their Absa Premiership game against AmaZulu on Saturday evening at FNB Stadium, Middendorp says there’s a strong competition in the team for the starting line-up and mentions Zambian international Lazarous Kambole as a possible starter this weekend.
