Katlego “Katli" Joja who went missing last week was found dead.

The funeral of 10-year-old Katlego Joja is underway at the Mamelodi Baptist church, east of Pretoria.

Deputy Police Minister Bongani Mkongi is attending and has offered his condolences on behalf of government to the Joja, Mbatha and Storom families.

Mkongi has condemned the 24 hour waiting period before reporting a missing person with the police.

He says he understands what autism is because his 32-year-old nephew is living with the condition.

Joja, who was autistic, disappeared from her home in Mamelodi last Thursday and her body was found on Sunday in a nearby stream.

Police are still investigating the cause of her death.
