Sandile Mantsoe was found guilty of murdering Karabo Mokoena.

Murder accused, Sandile Mantsoe, says his former girlfriend, Karabo Mokoena, was addicted to the high life. Mantsoe is on trial for Mokoena’s murder.

Mokoena was killed in April last year and her charred body was found in a field.

Captain Rogers Mahundla, from Sandton Policem read out a statement by Mantsoe in the Johannesburg High Court. The statement has a number of allegations against the deceased.

Mantsoe alleges Mokoena used to date Nigerian men and these men gave her R100 000 per month, and the high life that came with it. He says one of these men hit her until she miscarried; another one raped, her leaving her angry and depressed. Mantsoe says as a result of this, Karabo attempted suicide a couple of times when they were dating.

He said their relationship was always on- and-off and they both had multiple sex partners. Mantsoe also said they fought all the time and opened cases against each other. He also told her he no longer wanted to be with her, hours before she committed suicide.

The trial has adjourned until Friday.
